NY Hyundai Dealer, Millennium Hyundai, Comments on the Possibility of a Hyundai Pickup

ELMONT, N.Y. - July 12, 2013 - PRLog -- On April 2, 2013, Millennium Hyundai commented on a Car Connection article by Richard Read, regarding Hyundai considering adding a Hyundai pickup truck to its models, due to a growing popularity of trucks in recent years.

According to the Car Connection article (http://www.thecarconnection.com/news/1083303_will-your-next-pickup-be-a-hyundai), “Trucks are on track to be the biggest sellers of 2013, thanks to the recovery of the U.S. housing and construction markets.” The article states that due to this growing rate of pickup sales, it is no surprise that Hyundai is considering a pickup of their own.

The article mentioned that Hyundai had once considered this before, however the timing was bad considering it was right before the Great Recession that crippled world economies. The article explains that since things are mostly back to normal, Hyundai’s head of international sales, Lee In-Cheol, is once again considering a Hyundai pickup.

According to the article however, “It's very early in the game, with the bulk of Hyundai's work focused on market data to determine (a) if a truck could sell well, and if so, (b) what it might look like. Would it be a big truck aimed at the U.S., or would it be a smaller truck for emerging markets like India and Brazil?” The article states that if Hyundai aims for America, it may take a long time do to years of testing, and a heavy tax put on imported light-duty trucks.

I believe the market is there for it to thrive.”
