MCLEAN, Va. - July 11, 2013 - PRLog -- Fairfax, VA — SafeSpot of Fairfax is proud to announce Bloomingdale’s Tysons Corner will host a benefit fashion show on Sunday, October 6, 2013 from 10:00am to 1:00pm.  WJLA ABC-7 Washington Business Report Anchor Rebecca Cooper will serve as Mistress of Ceremonies. Women’s, junior’s and children’s fashions featured during the show will come from many Bloomingdale’s in-store collections and will be available for purchase by show attendees.  Designer and custom one-of-a-kind raffle prizes, attendee swag bags and refreshments will be served prior to the show, which will be held on the third floor of the store.  Bloomingdale’s is generously donating 10% of purchases during the event to SafeSpot, future Children’s Advocacy Center of Fairfax.

The fashion show was designed to not only raise funds to build an advocacy center that would service the Fairfax and surrounding Northern Virginia area, but in addition, bring awareness to the devastating issues surrounding child abuse in all of its forms and to provide knowledge about the advocacy that the group is doing.  Fashion show co-chairs Debbie Copito of Great Falls, VA and Suzanne Singer of Potomac, MD, are long-time volunteer advocates of children’s issues and their welfare.  Says Copito, “We have involved our own children in our volunteer efforts for the particular cause of child abuse prevention and treatment since they were in elementary school, and now as high schoolers and college students, they volunteer in producing the show, stuffing swag bags, greeting attendees, you name it and they help us with it.  We are really thrilled to have the opportunity to develop a new advocacy center and we are certain that SafeSpot will flourish over the next few years, and the fashion show is our kick off to making that dream a reality.”  Volunteers are from various parts of Northern Virginia, the District of Columbia and suburban Maryland areas with a wide variety of professional skills that they bring to the table to produce the show.  Notes Singer, who is also active with Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, “the primary goal of the fashion show is to introduce people to SafeSpot of Fairfax, their mission and vision all while developing a grass roots following to ensure its long- term success.”

Sponsorship opportunities and ticket sales for the show will become available in the coming weeks.  For more information on the organization or how to get involved, please visit the website at www.safespotfairfax.org or call (703) 828-5437 {KIDS}
