Buccament Bay Resort in St Vincent and the Grenadines offers top level tennis and rugby coaching

77 years since a British player lifted the men’s singles trophy at Wimbledon, and 24 years since the combined might of the British and Irish Lions last toppled the Wallabies on their home turf – it has been a weekend of sporting triumphs. If you’ve been inspired by the athleticism and determination of Andy Murray, the sheer power of the Lions front row, or the boot of Leigh Halfpenny, now’s the time to take the opportunity to learn from true sporting greats, with a choice of expert-led summer schools and coaching weeks at the five star all-inclusive Buccament Bay Resort (http://www.buccamentbay.com/uk/) in St Vincent and the Grenadines.

Rugby

When the celebrations of the historic Lions win have died down, budding rugby aces can also pick up tips from the experts as Buccament Bay will be welcoming a series of guest coaches throughout the rest of the year. Coaching is available for children aged six and over and will take place on five days out of every seven for 90 minutes each day.  Coaches teach not only key ball skills but all the fundamental techniques, including the technical, tactical, physical, mental and social elements of the game.

First of the guest coaches will be former Bath RFC and Leicester RFC star and member of England’s Rugby World Cup winning squad of 2003, Lewis Moody. Flanker Moody, nicknamed ‘Mad Dog’ by team mates and supporters, will offer coaching sessions from 28th July to 11th August.

During October half term, Martyn Williams (MBE) will visit Buccament Bay and will offer coaching from 23rd October to 1st November. Williams is a former Wales and British Lions flanker, who became Wales’ most capped forward, and holds the Welsh record for the most appearances in the Five and Six Nations contests.

Additionally, Lions team coach and former Welsh international Rob Howley will also be offering coaching at Buccament Bay from 28th December to 6th January. Considered one of the greatest ever scrum halves, Howley gained 59 caps for Wales with 22 of them as captain, and has gone on to a successful coaching career with Cardiff Blues RFC, the Welsh national team.
