MARSHALL FNDN Hosts Annual Summer Solstice Celebration at PB Catch in WPB

July 10, 2013 - PRLog -- Arthur R. Marshall Foundation for the Everglades Introduces New Interns at Summer Solstice Celebration at PB Catch

Nancy Marshall, president of the Arthur R. Marshall Foundation for the Everglades, which champions the restoration and preservation of the greater Everglades ecosystem, said that 65 supporters attended a reception on June 21 at PB Catch Seafood & Raw Bar in Palm Beach.

Highlights of the Summer Solstice Celebration included opening remarks by both John Marshall, Board Chair of the Marshall Foundation & Florida Environmental Institute, and Mary Crider, one of the nonprofit organization’s two Education Associates.  Ms. Crider then introduced this year’s five summer interns: Sarah Denison from Jupiter; Casey Hickcox from Boynton Beach; Jessica James from Alexandria, Virginia; Tomena Scholze from Burlington, Wisconsin; and Kelsie Timpe from Winter Haven, Florida.

The interns entertained the crowd with their delightful take-off of the old Edwin Starr classic, “War, what is it good for, absolutely nothing.” The lyrics of the new pro-green version: “Water, what is it good for, absolutely everything.”

As attendees enjoyed specialty drinks, tasty oysters and more at PB Catch, they heard about exciting plans for the Marshall Foundation’s upcoming River of Grass Gala from Robbyn Ackner, this year’s Gala Chair. Celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Arthur R. Marshall Foundation for the Everglades, this fun and festive event will be held on December 14 at The Colony Hotel Pavilion in Palm Beach.
