BEDFORD, Mass. - July 10, 2013 - PRLog -- Libman Education’s “Bridge to ICD-10 Tour” – a dynamic live ICD-10 training event featuring face-to-face presentations and discussions led by major ICD-10 national industry experts – is slated to hit three major U.S. venues September through November 2013.

The tour consists of two-day onsite interactive training sessions in Massachusetts, California, and Texas. Instructors are Gail Smith, MA, RHIA, CCS-P and Lynn Kuehn, MS, RHIA, CCS-P, FAHIMA, both nationally recognized ICD-10 experts. The tour also features special online pre-event primer courses at no additional charge.

The presentations offer attendees the opportunity to learn foundational ICD-10 material to prepare for the deadline; glean insights/get instant feedback from leading ICD-10 experts; share in open discussions about problematic areas in coding; maximize learning in a way that facilitates discussion; and network with peers.

The tour’s online aspect includes two 60-minute, online self-paced pre-event primer courses. The courses – written by the tour speakers – are not a repeat of the tour content, but complement them. For a special rate, they can also be taken independently of the tour.

Day #1 ICD-10-CM course: Students will explore the characteristics of the classification system; compare and contrast ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM codes; analyze new coding guidelines; and apply clinical concepts to support coding decisions.

Day #2 ICD-10-PCS course: Students will discover the format and characteristics of the new coding system and experience visual learning with videos and illustrations of surgical procedures. The faculty will provide decision trees and study aids to assist with a deeper understanding of the PCS system.

Both educational sessions provide numerous coding examples, common pitfalls and hands-on learning with case studies. The instructors are known for breaking down complex coding and clinical concepts into manageable pieces to assist with making the transition to ICD-10-CM/PCS easier.
