By: Illinois Jump$tart Coalition

CHICAGO - July 8, 2013 - PRLog -- (Chicago, IL) – Illinois Jump$tart Coalition (ILJ$), as an affiliate of the nation’s leading advocate for youth financial education National Jump$tart Coalition, is hosting an educational event entitled “Why Americans Don’t Save And What We Can Do About It” on Thursday July 18, 2013 at the Chicago Federal Reserve Bank, 230 S. LaSalle Street, Chicago, IL.  Registration begins at 8:45AM with the presentation from 9:00AM – 10:00AM followed by networking.  Continental breakfast will be provided.

Speaker and special guest is Steve Beaman.  Steve is the Founding Member of the Society for the Advancement of Financial Education. S.A.F.E. is a membership organization focused on providing businesses and individuals with the knowledge they need to build wealth and prosperity in the 21st Century. Steve is a 25 year veteran of financial services most notable for co-founding, building and selling Chicago Investment Analytics to Charles Schwab & Company.  Steve is the author of 400 articles on better living and business building, the author of the Path to Prosperity, a 2 volume 12 CD audio library, several E-books, and he has been the key-note at countless events.

According to Steve, Americans, by and large, do not save money at adequate levels to provide for a secure retirement.  Why not?  Why do so many people fail to accumulate enough wealth when they live in the largest economy in the world?  And why do so many people not understand what to do with the money they have saved?   His presentation will explore the importance of saving; the impediments to saving; and how savings can be safely maximized to achieve personal financial goals.

This event is the second in a series of education/networking events to be hosted by ILJ$ throughout Illinois.  Admission to the event is free, but seating is limited and reservations are required by visiting iljumpstart.org or calling 800-237-4958 ext 8.

The Mission of the Illinois Jump$tart Coalition for Personal Financial Literacy is to be a catalyst for enhancing the financial capability of young people through advocacy, collaboration and communication among key stakeholders.
