Rabbi Shlomo Braun Congratulates Dr. Steven Pavlakis nominated to the Aleh Foundation Medical Board

NEW YORK - July 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Dr. Pavlakis received both his BSc in biology and an MD at Brown University.  Dr. Pavlakis was appointed the Chief Scientific Officer of the Maimonides Medical Center from which included a fully functional animal laboratory, wet labs, and a clinical trials unit. Child Neurology and Developmental Medicine currently has 6 faculty members in pediatric neurology and three pediatric neurosurgeons with a fully functional and dedicated in patient EEG monitoring unit in the first Children’s Hospital in Brooklyn serving a population of 2.5 million people. He was a founding member of the International Pediatric Stroke Study (IPSS), a data set that has enrolled over 2000 stroke children. His recent interests involve pediatric hypertension and affects on the vasculature. He has over 100 publications and has chaired National Institutes of Health study sections and has often served as a consultant to government, public and private agencies.

Dr. Pavlakis has graciously accepted the nomination to join the elite group of Medical Board Members.  Douglas Jablon, Vice President of Maimonides Medical Center and longtime board member of the Aleh Foundation applauded the new Medical Board Member and remarked, “The professionalism of Dr. Pavlakis will undoubtedly enhance the services provided for the special children in Israel.”

Dr. Jeffrey Tennenbaum, the Aleh Foundation President was particularly pleased on the interest Dr. Pavlakis expressed in promoting the advancement and rehabilitation of the Aleh children. Dr. Pavlakis is eagerly looking forward to exchange medical techniques between his department in Maimonides Medical Center and the Aleh Centers in Israel.
