July 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Key military battles and explorations from early American history will be brought back to life July 20 and 21, 2013 on the grounds of Frankenmuth’s River (http://www.bavarianinn.com/) Place Shops at the Cass River Colonial Encampment event. The annual free event will feature hundreds of actors portraying troops from the Revolutionary, French and Indian Wars who will battle each other with cannons, muskets, knives and even their bare hands. The encampment will also include actors portraying voyageurs who were exploring the vast American wilderness that existed in colonial times.

“We have a quarter mile of beautiful Cass River frontage and sloping banks around our historic wooden covered bridge area which makes for perfect campsites for this event,” said Michael Keller Zehnder, Cass River Encampment Event Coordinator and General Manager of the Bavarian Inn Lodge. “Against this ideal backdrop, families can witness our national heritage up close and personal by stepping back in time to view four staged battles taking place Saturday and Sunday. This is a great learning opportunity for youngsters of all ages and they’ll have tons of fun in the process.”

In addition to witnessing the key tactical battles and the exploits of early American explorers, guests can experience 18th century colonial America, including military camps, troop inspections, flag ceremonies, period concerts, games, fashion shows and many other events. Visitors can also shop for souvenirs being sold by historical vendors at more than 30 tent and camp sites.

The event runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 20 and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, July 21. More information can be found at http://frankenmuthriverplace.com/cass-river-encampment.
