Core24 Calls For 2013 Admin Awards Nominations

President Sunny Nunan teams with Colleen Barrett, President Emeritus of Southwest Airlines, to honor Dallas admins

DALLAS - July 3, 2013 - PRLog -- (Dallas) July 3, 2013 – Core24 Founder and President Sunny Nunan has accomplished a great deal in her career. Before she started life as an accomplished marketer and later entrepreneur, she learned how to be a hardworking woman in the workforce from her mother, Jeanette Castellano, who re-entered the professional world as an administrative assistant at the age of 51.

Nunan was a teen when her mom started working again, and she was in awe of how much her mom loved her job. Castellano’s boss showed sincere appreciation for her earnest efforts over the years, thanking her frequently, rewarding her with trinkets from his travels, and giving her New York City Ballet tickets to take her daughter to the theater. Today, Castellano, age 79, still works full time as a receptionist in Irving, Texas.

“My mom is the ultimate inspiration for Core24’s Admin Awards, a long overdue celebration of the vital professionals who deserve front and center recognition with a formal awards program driven by the business community. The response to last year’s inaugural awards was overwhelming, and we can’t wait to honor another group of deserving professionals this October,” said Nunan.

This year’s Admin Awards will take place Friday, October 25 at the Omni Dallas Hotel. The call for nominations runs until August 16. Nominations can be made online at www.adminawards.com.

Administrative professionals currently working in Dallas and surrounding cities are eligible for nomination, and anyone from supervisors, coworkers, vendors, clients, and the administrative professionals themselves are encouraged to nominate an administrative professional for one or more of the nine awards.

The nine awards include:

·      Rookie of the Year—Celebrates a professional who began less than two years ago and has demonstrated the greatest potential to excel

·      Big Idea—Celebrates the admin whose idea had a considerable impact on their company

·      Community Champion—Honors a commitment to community service and inspiring volunteerism

·      Leadership—Recognizes leadership, mentoring talents, and leading by example

·      Achiever—Recognizes the successful management of a project with a company-wide impact

·      Spirit—Honors a consistently positive, spirited attitude and contagiously uplifting energy

·      Loyalty—Presented to the fiercely loyal admin with a 10 year or greater history with their organization

·      Above the Call—Honors the receptionist who goes above and beyond to deliver an exceptional first impression and serve with professionalism, enthusiasm, and care

·      Colleen Barrett Award for Administrative Excellence—This most prestigious award is presented to the admin who best demonstrates proficiency, organization values, passionate commitment, legendary customer service, and a heart for employee advocacy

Winners of the nine awards will receive a commissioned, custom made, hand blown glass Admin Award crafted by renowned artisan David Gappa. Winners, finalists, and administrative assistant guests are all in store for additional treats and surprises at the event.

Dallas’s most beloved and legendary former secretary, Southwest Airlines President Emeritus Colleen Barrett, immediately wanted to be part of the celebration when she was approached about last year’s awards. Barrett began her career as a legal secretary in 1967 and worked her way to the role of president and COO of Southwest Airlines in 2001. Barrett is a professional superstar who has won numerous awards from publications including Forbes, Fortune, and Businessweek.

“To the extent that I have talents and skills, I developed them from being a secretary. I never forget that. I really grew up as a secretary—I don’t mind still using that term—and it was the best learning experience I ever had. I don’t think there is enough attention paid to administrative help, people who are often undervalued and underpaid, and the Admin Awards is a great way to recognize the excellent work admins do. I was humbled that Sunny would involve me and create the Colleen Barrett Award, which is an incredible honor,” said Barrett.
