DENVER - July 2, 2013 - PRLog -- The American Legion, Department of Colorado, during its annual convention held in Ft. Collins Colorado - 19-23 June 2014 – the delegates elected Carol Kennedy, a resident of Westcliffe, CO and a retired Air Force Nurse, as their 95th Department Commander, becoming only the second female in the 95 year history of The American Legion, in Colorado.
My motto for this year is “Ignite Patriotism,” state Carol. We MUST go out and remind our communities that patriotism is what it’s all about. Make patriotism alive again in the USA.

Commander Kennedy has stated that her project this year is the “Colorado Veterans Kids Fund.” We, The American Legion, take care of our children, because they are our future. If you wish to make a donation, it can be sent to The American Legion, Department of Colorado 7465 East 1st Ave, Ste D, Denver, CO 80230. One hundred pre-cent of all monies donated to this fund goes towards the care of veteran’s children.

There are 400,000 plus veterans in the State of Colorado and every veteran eligible for membership in the Legion should join and continue helping support the motto “veterans helping veterans,” for it only through numbers that we can get the politicians to listen to what the needs are, for  the veteran and their family.

Commander Kennedy believes in The American Legion’s Four Pillars: Strong National Security, Caring for Veterans, Mentoring youth and Promoting Patriotism and Honor; by supporting Boys State, High School Oratorical Contest, American Legion Baseball, Boy Scouts, Flag Alliance, Veteran Employment, Female Veterans Programs, PR Programs, VA&R, as well as other Americanism and Children & Youth Programs.

We encourage learning more about The American Legion and collecting veteran’s information to take back to your communities, as well as learning what’s happening at the Legislative level. Make our voices heard. We will NOT LET OUR VETERANS BE FORGOTTEN!

JOIN US, IGNITE PATRIOTISM AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
