PRLog -- Eastern North Carolina – Gunilla Kroshus, an award winning and well-known cake designer in Eastern North Carolina was recognized as the Small Business Person of the Year by the Jacksonville-
Onslow Chamber of Commerce. Gunilla started baking from her home in 2001 and opened her full service store front bakery in 2006. In 2010, she opened a second location in Emerald Isle, North Carolina. Within months she outgrew that location and relocated her wedding cake showroom only to outgrow that location within a year. In 2012, she relocated her second location to Cedar Point, North Carolina. Kroshus creates unique and delicious American style cake designs at her Jacksonville, North Carolina bakery, American Dream Cakes, Incorporated. Her creations bring her passion for design and creativity to the world of cake design and fulfill her mission and passion of “making life delicious.” American Dream Cakes, Inc., will embark on a two-week trip abroad to explore/learn/
share/exchange the cultural differences/
techniques of running a small to medium size culinary-related business.
Traveling with Kroshus will be Head Pastry Chef, Garrett Young and her daughter, Sara, a culinary academy student at Northside High School, who is already receiving awards for her cake designs.
Gunilla Kroshus, who is from Sweden and became a U. S. citizen on February 27, 2009, remarks, “I feel it’s important to stimulate key staff members in areas of professional growth and show appreciation for their loyalty to your company by offering ‘once in a lifetime’ opportunities when they present themselves. The same can be said for your children; if you expect them to take interest in “your” business and maybe one day take over, you need to make it a true family business by getting them involved by not only teaching them the ropes of the business but also listening/learning from their ideas. It will also be a chance for me to reacquaint myself with some of the typical Swedish/European confections and hopefully bring back some ideas for “new” items at our bakery.” Team ADC will be “blogging”
