MARLBOROUGH, U.K. - July 1, 2013 - PRLog -- With the temperatures this weekend set to soar, organisers of the Barbury International Eventing and Show are putting in plans for the hot spell.

Over the four day Equestrian extravaganza thousands of visitors are anticipated to flock to the event, which is situated on the stunning Marlborough Downs.     The Horse Trials begin this Thursday and culminate on Sunday with the three star competition with riders going in reverse order of placing on the cross-country.  Three BS Show-jumping classes will also feature on Saturday and Sunday as well as racing legend Kauto Star making a special guest appearance on the final day where he will be ridden by Laura Collett in a demonstration with Yogi Breisner.

To cater for the predicted balmy conditions, The Outside Chance, the renowned watering hole at Barbury has trebled their order for Pimms, Pol Roger Champagne and of course water plus put in an extra order of ice cream and lollies.   Sun cream will also be available, however visitors are also advised to bring their own sun protection as well as keep hydrated.  Canine visitors will also be catered for with extra water bowls spread around the site.

Plenty of ice and water will also be available as well as fans to help keep the horses cool.

Nigel Bunter, Chairman of the Barbury International Eventing and Show commented; "With the forecast looking glorious for this weekend's event we have put some extra measures in place for both spectators, horses and riders.  Now summer appears to be eventually here we want everyone to enjoy this beautiful part of England, pack a picnic, come and join us and watch some of the leading riders in the world in action".

The Perfect Barbury Picnic

Brian Turner CBE, will be headlining the CGA Festival of Food, alongside celebrity chef's Graham White, Andrew Kojima, Tania Steytler, Joseph Croan and Graham Passey on the Saturday and Sunday.  Brian is renowned for his seasonal dishes and has shared some tips on preparing a mouth-watering picnic menu ahead of visit, he comments:

'Do plenty the day before to save pressure on the day of a picnic. Pre-cooked sausages and skewers of chicken and lamb are best when served with coleslaw's and pickles and dipping sauces. Fruit tarts and fresh fruit picnics are great with yoghurts and well chilled rose wines!

Additionally the CGA Festival of Food will feature plenty of homemade and home-grown produce for visitors to sample and buy.

On Saturday and Sunday there is fun for all the family with The Amazing Bike Show, Sheep and Gun Dog and Birds of Prey displays, a Hound parade and The Lamb National - a favourite with the children as well as plenty of children’s entertainment.  The nominated charity across the four day event is the Wiltshire Air Ambulance. Their Its A Knockout Competition on the Sunday will raise funds for the charity, when teams of local businesses will be taking part in a version of the popular 80's TV show.
Tickets for the event start are £12 per person, per day on the gate with under 12’s going free. For information visit www.barburyhorsetrials.co.uk or call 01672 516125.
