Weingarten Brown LLP Launches Transactional Practice with Addition of Ronnie Roy

Former Irell & Manella LLP Lawyer Will Chair the Firm’s New Practice Area

LOS ANGELES - July 8, 2013 - PRLog -- Weingarten Brown LLP announced today that the litigation boutique is expanding into a full-service firm with the addition of new partner Ronnie Roy. Formerly with the Los Angeles office of Irell & Manella LLP, Roy will chair the firm’s new transactional practice group and work alongside founding partner Alex Weingarten to handle deals for existing clients, develop business, and fully staff the transactional practice group.

“I always intended to integrate a transactional practice into our firm and to become a full-service operation for our clients, but I was waiting for the right partner,” said Weingarten, who manages the firm. “Our clients have been clamoring for us to expand into this practice and Ronnie brings the exemplary skills and large firm experience that characterize our lawyers, along with the expertise to structure complex deals and the vision to grow the practice.  We have been waiting for the perfect fit and are extremely pleased to welcome Ronnie to the firm.  Our litigation practice has enjoyed exponential growth over the past few years and our new transactional practice will not be any different.”

At Irell & Manella, Roy focused on mergers and acquisitions, public offerings, private placements, finance, securities law and corporate governance for clients in the entertainment, gaming, hospitality, pharmaceutical, high-tech and telecommunications industries. His deals include representing a casino owner and developer with a number of bond deals and a public offering; a leading footwear company in securing a $250 million credit facility; technology and service companies in early stage financing; a YouTube network in the first-of-its-kind sale to a major studio; a pharmaceutical company in the sale of its product lines to medical device companies; and a reality television production company in its sale to an international media conglomerate. Roy also advises clients on 34 Act reporting, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks and proxy statements, as well as with respect to Schedules 13G or 13D and other securities matters.

Roy earned his law degree from Columbia University School of Law in 2005, where he was named a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and a James Kent Scholar. He graduated cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania in 2000 with a bachelor of arts in American History. Roy is admitted to the bar in California and is an active member of the South Asian Bar Association.

“I have been waiting to find a dynamic platform to expand my practice and after meeting with Alex and his team, quickly realized that this was the perfect fit.  I went looking for entrepreneurial, aggressive and exceptional attorneys to work with in a boutique environment and could not be happier,” said Roy. “I’m enthusiastic about our plans, the benefits this move offers our existing clients and the prospects for continued explosive growth. I’m delighted to join the firm.”
