Seven year-old girl has rare, aggressive form of cancer called Sarcoma.
Benefit concert to be held to help pay out-of-pocket expenses for Julia Warren’s treatment at John’s Hopkins Hospital.

Baltimore, MD, July, 2013: On February 1st, 2013, seven year-old Julia Warren, of Bradyville, TN, was diagnosed with Stage-3 Sarcoma (a rare and aggressive form of soft tissue cancer) after a tumor was discovered in her left arm.
Julia’s pediatrician arranged for her to be transferred to Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore for aggressive treatment. To date, Julia has undergone 15 rounds of chemotherapy and some 25 radiation treatments. Yet, she is a trooper and remains positive.
After the third round of chemo, doctors were very hopeful because the malignant tumor had shrunk by 90%. However, just recently the tumor has grown back to 50% of its original size. Either way, Julia will have to undergo at least two surgeries, possibly reconstructive and plastic surgery, and more chemotherapy.
Julia’s family has been told that, even with health insurance, they can expect to face out-of-pocket expenses of $40,000.00-$120,000.00; obviously, the need is tremendous. For this reason, several fundraising efforts have been undertaken. One in particular will pique the interest of Baltimore’s music lovers, especially those fans of local musicians.
There is going to be a benefit concert held for Julia called “Rock Childhood Cancer” at the Bel Air Moose Lodge #1952 on Friday, July 26, at 7:00 p.m. Local bands appearing include Rezin, Wirehead and Triangle. Other local talent is still being recruited.
More information about the concert may be obtained by visiting rockchildhoodcancer.eventbrite.com. More information about Julia may be seen at the Striving for Julia Facebook community at: https://www.facebook.com/StrivingForJulia?fref=ts, and there is an online donation site at: https://www.giveforward.com/fundraiser/xc72/strivingforjulia. At the GiveForward website so far, some $4,100.00 has been raised. But, of course, that’s just a drop in the bucket.
