PLACERVILLE, CA –  The annual July Fourth race at Placerville Speedway is always known for its great action, great crowd and fireworks in celebration of Independence Day. Such will be the case in grand fashion this Thursday, July 4 as the famed speedway offers more for racers and race fans than ever before with the Tiner Family Classic and July Fourth Spectacular this Thursday night.

Thursday's high octane event will feature the fire breathing sprint cars of the Hoosier Tires Civil War Sprint Car Series in the highest paying Civil War Series event of the season thus far with as much as $4000 going to the winner of the 30-lap feature event and added bonuses and fanfare throughout the night. The evening will climax with a giant fireworks display funded by Handy Racing Promotions together with the El Dorado County Fairgrounds in celebration of Independence Day.

"We had a great time with this race last year and we are really looking forward to building this into a marquee event in our region," said Steven Tiner, the youngest wheelman in the 51 year history of the famed Tiner family and the founder of this annual race that pays tribute to the family that has become legendary in California open wheel racing.

"We've had some great people step up and raise the purse and there is even more generous sponsors stepping up today," added Tiner, who has raised ample funds to pay Saturday's feature winner $4000, twice the amount of a routine Civil War event.

A large portion of the funds for Thursday's event comes in the form of a tribute to a fallen member of the community who was a close friend of the Tiner Family. Scott Santana lost his life in an auto accident back in 2011. Santana's legacy lives as five lives of those he never even knew where saved through organ donation.

In Santana's honor, his family and the Scott Santana Foundation has contributed to the winner's purse and added bonuses Thursday night. All drivers are eligible to claim the winnings, providing they display the "Live On, Drive On" decal they will be furnished at the track.  In addition to the feature winnings, $100 will go to the fast qualifier Thursday night and each heat race winner will be awarded a $51 bonus for their efforts along with a commemorative plaque and multiple contingency prizes.

As part of an outreach, the Santana Family will have an informational booth at the main entry of Placerville Speedway Thursday for race fans to learn more about the benefits of organ donation. There will also be a free drawing for a new bicycle for all kids at the event furnished by College Cyclery of Sacramento.  All kids under 12 years of age are admitted for free at Placerville Speedway for this big event.

Additional winnings on July Fourth will include a $500 Hardcharger bonus for the driver who passes the most positions in the feature race. A gift card from Wilwood and product donations from Schoenfield, ART Enterprises, Seller's Race Wings, CRV Products, BR Motorsports, King Racing Products and more.

Race fans will also be on the receiving end of many prizes including complimentary t shirts that will be shot into the crowd by a t shirt cannon as well as numerous prizes and gift certificates from the track's title sponsor Red Hawk Casino

The full evening of racing will conclude with fireworks, all in conjunction with the Family Blast at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds. Take note, the gates will open one hour earlier than usual to allow for the festivities Thursday evening so an early arrival to the speedway is suggested.

The grandstands will open at 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon. Qualifying will be at 5:30 followed by racing.  Adult tickets will be $20, Seniors will be $14, Juniors $12. All kids under 12 are FREE for this event. Active military with current ID will be admitted for $12 in honor of Independence Day.

The 2013 Championship Racing Season at Placerville Speedway is presented in part by Red Hawk Casino, Hoosier Tires and Coors Light in conjunction with the Mountain Democrat, Thompson's Auto Centers, ADCO Driveline, Riebes Auto Parts and Stymeist Auto Body Collision Repair.
