Africa.com Invited to Join Obama Trip to Africa

NEW YORK - June 28, 2013 - PRLog -- JOHANNESBURG, South Africa -- Africa.com, the world’s largest and fastest growing Africa- related website, was invited to join the White House Traveling Press Corps to cover President Obama’s historic visit to Africa.

Africa.com joins CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, Fox, Reuters, The New York Times, AP, and other major media in its coverage of the First Family’s seven day trip to Senegal, South Africa, and Tanzania.

Nixon visited China in 1972 and changed the way Americans viewed China by reopening trade between the two nations, and paving the way for the critical relationship that bond these superpowers in the new millennium.  Reagan visited Russia in 1987, and during that trip gave an impassioned speech at the Berlin Wall, which is credited for paving the path to the end of the Cold War.

Obama’s visit to Africa in 2013 is expected to be similarly profound.  This visit gives the American people images of Africa that are in contrast to the stereotypes many Americans have of Africa.  The president quite intentionally begins the visit in Senegal to showcase a country that represents a strong democracy with free and fair elections, and a range of institutions that provide a foundation for sustained good governance, including an independent Supreme Court.

The journey continues to South Africa and to Tanzania.  Much of the trip is focused on the economic opportunities between the US and various African countries.  With seven out of ten of the world’s fastest growing economies located in Africa, it presents an attractive environment for the US to invest in Africa.

President Obama is expected to give the defining speech of this visit at the University of Cape Town on Sunday evening.
