EXHIBITOR Magazine’s Salary Survey: Exhibit and Event Pros Stretching Stagnant Salaries

ROCHESTER, Minn. - June 28, 2013 - PRLog -- ROCHESTER, MN – EXHIBITOR Media Group (http://www.ExhibitorOnline.com), the leader in trade show and corporate event marketing education (http://www.exhibitoronline.com), today announced the results of EXHIBITOR magazine’s (http://www.exhibitoronline.com) 2013 Salary Survey, which revealed that while exhibit and event professionals’ salaries have hit a record high, the increase over 2012 amounts to a statistically insignificant $64, and extra compensation is down 15 percent.

Salaries have not kept pace with the cost of living, yet this year’s average of $68,155 is a record high. While average salaries are up, total take-home pay is down 2 percent, because of a drop in additional compensation totals.  

Exhibit and event professionals with at least one industry certification (such as the Certified Trade Show Marketer (http://www.exhibitoronline.com/ctsm/) designation) enjoy annual salaries an average 20 percent higher than their acronym-free peers (plus roughly 9 percent more in additional compensation). That places the monetary value of such certification at $14,233 in increased earnings per year.  

“Surprisingly, marketers seem somewhat oblivious to the shortfalls they’re experiencing,” commented Travis Stanton, editor, EXHIBITOR magazine.  “In 2011, when exhibit and event professionals were taking home roughly $4,500 more per year, just 43 percent of respondents reported feeling satisfied with their annual earnings. Paradoxically, satisfaction levels are up five percentage points in 2013, despite the fact that respondents are actually making less.”
