By: monOrchid LLC Get out of the summer heat and join us at monOrchid gallery for our first annual Family Day— Saturday, July 27, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Children of all ages are invited to enjoy docent lead tours of the summer group exhibition “Thermal PHX.” The concept for the annual “Thermal PHX” exhibition is to emulate “thermal columns” pockets of hot air rising from the desert that elevate whatever latches on to the movement. The exhibition is meant to be a “thermal” for local artists, to help them elevate their work by providing them an exhibition opportunity in a major art space during our long, hot summer here in Phoenix. This wonderful exhibition offers a variety of art that will appeal to everyone. We hope you will join us for this very special event! Some of the planned activities include: - A live painting demonstration by “Thermal PHX” artist Jayme Blue - A limited edition “Thermal PHX” Color sheet and drawing tables for children to create their own artwork in the gallery. - Yoga in the grass (all ages welcome bring your mat) from 10-11am. - A performance by local musicians Andrew Waterhouse and Steven Totten of Tres Lunas. - Treats from local restaurants Carly’s Bistro, Pallets Food & Bar, Urban Cookies Bakeshop, and Brilliant Sky Bakery. "Thermal PHX" features works by: Kevin Caron, Diane DiBernadino- Located at 214 E Roosevelt St, in the heart of the arts district in downtown Phoenix, the monOrchid building offers space for events, weddings, photo/video production, art exhibits, and small businesses. The monOrchid is a 14,000 square foot space comprised of two art galleries, office pods, a coffee shop, and two world-class photo cycloramas. The varied connected spaces house multiple creative businesses and offer unique settings for cultural events within the masonry walls and soaring natural wood bow trusses. Originally a warehouse constructed in 1937 by Del Webb, the building is an excellent example of adaptive-reuse in the city’s core. Through years of renovation and invention, the building has morphed into a place for collaboration, creativity and celebration. The monOrchid building is open daily. The galleries are open for public events every First and Third Friday from 6-9pm and by appointment.
