Hyundai and BorgWarner Team Up to Create a New Powertrain for the Veloster

OAK LAWN, Ill. - June 28, 2013 - PRLog -- Happy Hyundai is pleased to report that Hyundai will roll out a revised version of the performance trim level of the sporty 2013 Hyundai Veloster (http://www.myhappyhyundai.com/2013-hyundai-veloster) hatchback. This is the result of a partnership between Hyundai and precision auto parts giant BorgWarner. The new Veloster Turbo will get a 1.6 gasoline direct-injection four-cylinder engine equipped with a twin-scroll turbocharger that boosts power by 46% when compared with the standard naturally aspirated version of the same engine.

The 2013 Hyundai Veloster Turbo, which is currently available at Happy Hyundai in Oak Lawn, adds power and performance to the standard hatchback. The turbocharged version of the 1.6L engine makes an impressive 204 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque, and results in an even more impressive 35 mpg highway. The Veloster Turbo packs both power and efficiency into a small distinctive package.

Hyundai set out to create a new powertrain for the Hyundai Veloster Turbo that provides plenty of low-end torque for quick acceleration and rapid throttle response. To do that, they’ve combined the gasoline direct-injection technology in their latest engines with the turbocharging expertise of BorgWarner. The twin-scroll turbocharger optimizes air intake into the combustion chamber, providing both more efficiency and more power.

The Veloster Turbo combines sporty performance, precise handling, and unique styling in a practical hatchback package. The Turbo version starts at $22,100, and comes with additional performance and luxury features over the standard Veloster, which starts at $17,600. The standard Veloster, with the naturally aspirated version of the same gasoline direct-injection 1.6L four-cylinder engine, yields 37 mpg on the highway.
