Health Law Attorney Named Pro Bono Champion by American Health Lawyers Association

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. - June 28, 2013 - PRLog -- Michael L. Smith, an attorney with The Health Law Firm, was recently named a 2012 Pro Bono Champion by the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA).

Mr. Smith received the Pro Bono Champion award for all of the health law/health care related pro bono services he provided in 2012. Throughout the year, he represented several veterans and their families through The Veteran Consortium Pro Bono Program. Mr. Smith also performed legal services for persons with AIDS, ARC, and who are HIV positive through the Orange County Bar Association AIDS Special Will Project.

Attorneys honored with the Pro Bono Champion title are chosen for the impact their work has on improving the lives of those who are least able to afford necessary legal services, but who need it the most. In addition to being an attorney, Mr. Smith is also a registered respiratory therapist. He is Board Certified in Health Law by The Florida Bar. Mr. Smith is a member of the AHLA, The Florida Bar, The Orange County Bar Association, The Seminole County Bar Association, The American Bar Association, The Mental Health Association of Central Florida, Inc., and The American Association of Nurse Attorneys (TAANA).
