Follow on Google News | United Way: People Gotta Eat Can-tastic CompetitionPeople Gotta Eat, a United Way of St. Joseph County initiative, will host its Can-tastic Competition on August 17.
By: Group 7even Participants are encouraged to organize a team, create a design and collect the cans and funds necessary to bring their sculptural visions to life. Sculptures must be food related. Awards will be given out on the day of the event to the team that raised the most money, the team that collected the most cans and to the team with the sculpture voted on by the audience as the “people’s choice.” The deadline to register for participation in the event is August 5. Anyone can participate. The registration fee is $100 per sculpture. Non-profit organizations can participate for free. Please call (574) 232-8201, ext. 226 for more information. People Gotta Eat is a UWSJC initiative that helps those in the St. Joseph County community without the means to eat or to secure adequate food for their families. UWSJC works with area food pantries to raise money to keep food pantries stocked and to develop a cohesive plan to effectively address systemic food distribution in the community. United Way of St. Joseph County is a nonprofit organization working to advance the common good by focusing on education, income and health. It works closely with 54 local agency programs to meet the community needs of St. Joseph County. End
