Greensburg MMA Event Draws Fighters & Fans To Nevin Arena on June 22nd, 2013

The World Cagefighting Championships VI rolled into Westmoreland County, as the Kirk Nevin Arena in Greensburg, once again hosted this annual summer MMA event.

GREENSBURG, Pa. - June 27, 2013 - PRLog -- June 22nd, 2013 was a great night for Greensburg Mixed Martial Arts, as the World Cagefighting Championships VI rolled into Nevin Arena with its third Pro/Am MMA event in Westmoreland County.

The WCC VI card would once again feature local Pennsylvania MMA fight talent, along with some out of state fighters who would be looking to make a name for themselves here in the Keystone State.

Fans filled Kirk Nevin Arena as the Amateur MMA card started off around 7:30pm with Alexander Wallace from High Ground Jiu-Jitsu, facing off against Matthew Falk from Team AMS in Pittsburgh.
With a rash of fighter injuries, the slated MMA card had shrunk from a full 14 bouts (the maximum allowed by Pa Athletic Commission) down to 9 match-ups. What the fans got that evening would look a lot like a submission derby, with 6 of the bouts ending either by tap out… or being choked-straight-out.

One notable MMA fight (and crowd favorite) to highlight the evening, would happen on the Amateur side of the card.

With Greensburg based MMA school, Pennsylvania Combat Sports http://www.pacombatsports.com, once again featuring stand-out striker and jiu-jitsu blue belt, Dave Sholtes. In this fight he would be making a point to utilize his striking game against AMS debut fighter Brandon Eckhardt.

The sixth fight of the night ended up going the distance, with some great mutual exchanges landed early. Despite Eckhardt’s best attempts, it would be the striking experience of Sholtes which would carry him to a decisive judges score card victory.

The main event would feature AMS Pro Fighter, Charlie Gathers, facing off against a prepared Brandon Seyler representing 3 Elements Jiu-Jitsu. In what would prove to be the trend for the evening, this MMA fight would not make it past the one minute mark, as Seyler secured the choke early on Gathers in round one.

With the World Cagefighting Champions VI show now in the books, Greensburg MMA fans will have to patiently wait and see when the next event will make its way close to Westmoreland County. As for the fighters, most will be back to training and preparing for their next excursion into the cage.
