Follow on Google News | Bards & Brews makes historic downtown Hillsboro a literary destinationBy: Jacobsen's Books Hillsboro, OR – For years the downtown district of Hillsboro has worked quietly behind the scenes to raise its destination value from fading history to chic place to shop and play. And we are on our way! The arts have settled in with galleries, studios, theaters, and a cinema nestled between the traditional boutiques and antique shops. And now two downtown merchants have collaborated with NIWA (Northwest Independent Writers Association) On the last Friday of every month, NIWA will showcase five authors, both independently and traditionally published, who will share their work with booklovers from all over the Portland Metro area. Primrose & Tumbleweeds (248 E Main St) will host the event in their wine bar and restaurant and Jacobsen’s Books & More will be on hand, offering the featured works for sale. Readings will begin at 7 p.m. with authors available for signings and more informal literary discussions after the presentations. Admission is free.
