“Live” Art for Animals

A Benefit for Camden’s Dogs and Cats

Camden County, NJ –  (June 27, 2013)  NJ Aid for Animals, Inc., (NJAFA),  the leader in  innovative programs for underserved animals in Camden – in partnership with Gallery Eleven One --  will host a unique fundraiser to increase spay and neuter services for dogs and cats. The event will be held on Thursday, July 25 from 5:30 to 8:30 pm., at Gallery Eleven One which is located in a beautifully, renovated 1906 firehouse on the Rutgers Campus near the Camden Waterfront at 339 N. Front Street.

Owner and nationally acclaimed artist, William Butler, will host the event and has generously earmarked proceeds to help fund these critically needed services for dogs and cats as the hot summer months get underway.

“My wife, Ronja, and I are so happy to be partnering with NJAFA for this event,” Butler says. “We live in Camden with our boys and we understand the importance of spaying and neutering dogs and cats – services which help reduce the incidence of homeless strays -- and the other tremendous work NJAFA does in the city.”

These critical services are in dire need as the city’s animal control picks up an average of 45  dogs and cats per week in Camden.  “These animals are taken to over-stressed and over-crowded shelters where often the only alternative is euthanasia,” says Kathy McGuire, NJAFA president and founder. “Reducing the number of unwanted litters through spay and neutering will ensure that the number of animals on the street will decrease and therefore lessen the impact on our local shelters.” NJAFA’s mission is to spay and neuter every single animal in Camden – a goal which is surely attainable with Camden’s mandatory spay/neuter ordinance and NJAFA’s ability to offer these services with our partners for as little as $25 per animal.”

Butler is a nationally acclaimed artist whose works have sold from coast to coast.  This fascinating artist also creates live art.  Each live art experience is unique and tailored to the message and theme of the event.  Butler paints many distinct layers on his canvas, transforming the painting many times before completion.   In about 60 minutes, the painting is complete.  The finished piece is awe inspiring, but it is the creative process on display which creates an experience with art unlike any other.  Guests will have an opportunity to purchase this live art experience with 25% of the proceeds going directly to NJAFA.

Guests will enjoy an open wine bar, heavy hors d’oeuvre, live jazz, viewing original artwork and a live art demonstration from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.  Walk-ins are welcome but space is limited and a reservation is recommended at info@njafa.org or (856) 728-0911.  Proceeds from every $25 ticket will cover the costs of one spay or neuter for a dog or cat.  NJAFA appreciates the support of the public when hosting these lifesaving events.  Safe secure parking is available on the street.
