The MBOHO MKPARAWA IBIBIO USA, INC. Host 8th Annual National Convention June 28 - 30

The Mboho, Mkparawa & Ibibio USA, Inc. will host their 8th Annual National Convention – Friday, June 28th through Sunday, June 30, 2013 at the Detroit Marriott Southfield Hotel on Northwestern Highway in Southfield Michigan.
 
SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - June 26, 2013 - PRLog -- The Mboho, Mkparawa & Ibibio USA, Inc. will host their 8th Annual National Convention – Friday, June 28th through Sunday, June 30, 2013 at the Detroit Marriott Southfield Hotel on Northwestern Highway in Southfield Michigan. The organization represents Nigerians from Akwa Ibom state, who are IBIBIOS – the Mboho, Mkparawa & Ibibio. Akwa Ibom state is also the home of Exxon Mobil a major corporation of the United States.  

With over 170 million inhabitants, Nigeria is a strong resource base, with tremendous economic growth prospects. The greater Detroit area is home to several thousand Nigerian’s that have often relocated to the area to pursue their education.  Nigerian’s are represented throughout the professional fields, from physicians, to pharmacist, to architects, engineers, and journalist and in the hospitality industry.  This gathering provides the opportunity for Nigerian’s to celebrate their culture, cuisine and art while providing an opportunity for the ex-pats to get together to discuss local and international politics and social issues that are important to them.

•   Community Health Fair             Saturday, June 29 – 9:00 am – 12:00 pm
•   International Networking         Friday, June 28 – Sunday, June 30
•   Friday Night Bash             Friday, June 28th 8:00 pm – 2:00 am
•   Business Forum              Saturday, June 29, 12:00 – 2:00pm
•   Tours of Detroit’s Cultural Sites &River Walk   Friday, June 28 & Saturday, June 29
•   Saturday Gala Dinner Dance         Saturday, June 29, 7:00 pm

Highlights of the event include a Taste of Ibibio Cuisine, cultural dances & folk songs from Detroit and Africa.  This year’s event theme is Empower Our Youth through Education and the Development of our Community.  The Community Health Fair has confirmed Dr. Joy Inyang, MD and Dr. Tessy C. Jenkins, MD and Dr. Camille E. Jones, MD as speakers.
“Our area is a melting pot of international cultures.  Often times the large Middle Eastern community in our area dominates the news, but the area also has a large African, Indian and Hispanic representation,” said Eniang Efiong of African World Expo who is assisting with the event planning and will attend the event.
