June 26, 2013 - PRLog -- Hip Hop Mega Star Yolanda " Yo Yo" Whitaker celebrates the 20th Anniversary of her heavy hitter third album, You Better Ask Somebody. This jam packed album is an all-time classic produced by critically acclaimed producers such as Ice Cube, N.W.A. producer Laylaw, QDill, Night Stawka, Mr. Woody and The Baker Boys. You Better Ask Somebody comprised of the memorable number 1 singles Bonnie and Clyde Theme featuring Cube, WestSide Story and IBW'in' wit my Crewin. While Public Enemy was fightin the power, Yo Yo was fightin for women to be heard. She was determined to plant her seeds of wisdom across the community, the nation and then the world.
Yo Yo hit the scene stompin to the 90's in 1991. This South Central Los Angeles native pioneer proclaimed being fearless in everything she touched. She challenged the male hegemony with her unforgettable lyrics which still reigns truth across the globe. “20 years ago, journalists asked me if Hip Hop was here to stay ; 20 years later I am celebrating the 20th Anniversary of You Better Ask Somebody and watching the transition of life into our music,” said Yo Yo.


Over the past 2 decades, Yo Yo continues to be the source of empowerment for the community and women in launching her renowned I.B.W.C. (Intelligent Black Women's Coalition) and Yo Yo School of Hip Hop Academic and Arts Program in Los Angeles, Oceanside, CA and Highland Park, MI. She is a mother of 2 lovely daughters and almost newlywed to Mayor DeAndre Windom of Highland Park, MI.   Yo Yo's illuminating dedication to making an extraordinary impact in everything she does is undeniably grounded in her roots.

What's next for the legend? Yo Yo is set to start filming the highly anticipated docu-series, Hip Hop Sisters alongside her legendary hip hop sisters MC Lyte, Lady of Rage, Lil Mama, Monie Love and Smooth. Filming begins mid -summer of this year and will be airing on B.E.T. Yo Yo also is set to release her book entitled “Male Dominated” which features other hip hop legends such as Snoop Dogg and Queen Latifah.
