ATLANTA - June 26, 2013 - PRLog -- MSys, an established provider of development, testing and test automation services, continues to prove its mettle by launching a new certification service to help vendors qualify their products for hardware and software compatibility. MSys has successfully executed certification programs like ESX, SRM/SRA, PSA, CIMPAT, WHQL etc., in the fields of storage, virtualization, hardware, and software.

Certifications Offered by MSys:

MSys provides a comprehensive Storage Certification Program for VMware, Hyper-V and Microsoft which is made up of generic compatibility-level test suites bundled as certification programs. It leverages its storage expertise and homegrown automation tool capabilities to prepare and execute these certification test suites which are based on protocols and technologies like Fibre Channel (FC), Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE), iSCSI, SAS, NAS, and VAAI.

MSys has obtained the following certifications for its vendors under VMware:
• CIM Provider Acceptance Test (CIMPAT) program.
• Pluggable Storage Architecture (PSA) certification
• VMware Storage Replication Adapter (SRA) certification.
• ESX certifications for FC, FCoE, iSCSI and NAS.

Apart from the above, it is also experienced in helping to procure the WHQL certification. This certification signifies that a particular hardware or software is compatible with the Windows OS. On achieving the WHQL certification, the hardware will be listed on the Microsoft Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) and is allowed to sport the Windows logo for marketing purposes. Vendors can choose from among these certification programs based on the device interfaces to be supported.          

Certification Testing Process:

The testing process comprises three key steps:

• Preparing the test bed setup which involves obtaining the setup required for testing from the customer and configuring the test environment,
• Executing recommended tests for precertification and certification, and
• Uploading logs for compatibility analysis.

While testing for certification purposes, MSys will troubleshoot problems, provide relevant log details and suggestions to the customer’s engineers, and apply published errata as needed to ensure that the submission passes.

If any issues arise, MSys will work directly with VMware and Microsoft to resolve these issues at the customer’s request. The company will also return the test results to the customer if requested to do so for submission to VMware and Microsoft.

Some of the main challenges facing vendors are due to the manual nature of test bed preparation. MSys overcomes these challenges by automatically creating templates, test servers and test computers for the test environment.

Finally, MSys collected and submitted the logs to VMware using VMware workbench. (Alternatively, the logs can also be uploaded to vmdev.) After the logs were verified by VMware, the storage array hardware details were listed in the VMware HCL.
