CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - June 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Applied Video Imaging, a provider of rugged video products for airborne, ground, and marine surveillance missions, introduced its high definition, Quad Video Processor unit.  The standalone unit combines four HD video inputs into a single HD video output. This allows mission operators to view all sensor video at the same time on their display.

Any combination of up to four SD SDI, HD SDI, or 3-G SDI video sources can be used as input. Low latency buffering allows non-synchronous input to be scaled and processed into a single SD SDI, HD SDI, 3-G SDI or DVI/HDMI output in real time. Input channels are completely independent with video formats automatically detected and independently scaled. Up to sixteen characters can be input and overlaid as user data or channel identification for each input channel.

Output scaling is also independent from input scaling. Output can be either the combined quad image or individual channels displayed full screen. Selection of any single channel or quad view image is provided using AVI’s system control components or embedded control software. This allows the unit to function as a 3-G SDI switch.

“AVI’s Quad Video Processor allows our customers to reduce weight and wiring complexity while increasing their mission effectiveness for both new and existing surveillance mission systems,” said Bruce Carriker, President and founder of AVI. “Additional displays are not required to view all sensor video channels and only one cable from the Quad Video Processor to the display is required. The Quad Video Processor can be used with any SDI capable display.”

Designed to DO-160 standards, AVI’s rugged Quad Video Processor weighs 2.5 pounds in a 6.5 x 5.9 x 1.7 inch package. User controllable functions and configurations are accessible by its USB control interface and it accepts 9 – 36 volts DC power.

AVI’s rugged Quad Video Processor is designed for use in airborne, ground, and marine law enforcement and defense surveillance applications. Based on industry standards, AVI’s Quad Video Processor can be used with any SDI, DVI, or DVI/HDMI display capable of displaying SDI standard video formats.
