Saint Just Retreats Announces New Successful Family Program Workshop

AMSTERDAM, N.Y. - June 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Saint Jude Retreats is proud to announce that the recently launched Family Program Workshops have started off with great success this summer. The Saint Jude Family Program Workshops include two days where the family members of substance users, undergo an extensive workshop to help them deal with feelings associated with their loved one's drug or alcohol use.

The families will additionally gain valuable insight on how to deal with their loved ones once they have returned home after the program. Currently the substance user must be enrolled in the Saint Jude Program, in order for their loved ones to partake in the Family Workshop. The Saint Jude Program is a non-treatment approach which is an alternative to alcohol and drug rehabs.

Michelle Dunbar, Executive Director of Saint Jude Retreats and Family Program Developer, is pleased the way the Family Program is coming along so far. Dunbar quotes, "It's really great to see that we are helping families not only better understand substance use but to help them realize it's not their fault and they are not to blame. We want family members to know that it's okay to be concerned about their loved ones that are struggling with drug and alcohol use, but it's also okay for them to live separate lives, and be happy."

During the 2 day workshop family members will have the opportunity to learn what addiction is and what it is not, work on a self analysis to help them move beyond feelings such as guilt, shame or resentment, and meet one-on-one with Saint Jude Retreat directors and their loved one's instructors. The Family Program Workshop is intentionally kept small so instructors are able to focus on each unique situation. Typically there are never more than two families for each workshop. Additionally, the families receive researched information and effective strategies to help their loved ones once they return home and have completed the Saint Jude Program.
