MALVERN, Pennslyvania - June 25, 2013 - PRLog -- Malvern, PA – David Consulting Group (http://www.davidconsultinggroup.com), the premier global provider of Application Development & Maintenance (ADM) support solutions for software optimization, will be co-hosting a workshop at the IT Financial Management (ITFMA) Conference, focused on transitioning an IT department to a center of value generation for the business.

Held on July 9, the workshop (http://www.itfma.com/displaycommon.cfm?an=1&subarticlenbr=493#T08C) will review the IT Capability Maturity Framework (http://ivi.nuim.ie/it-cmf) (IT-CMF) to provide participants with an understanding of how mature organizations leverage their IT cost management functions to create value in line with the goals of the business. The half-day workshop, “IT Cost Management Assessment with a Business Value Focus,” is aimed primarily at IT financial management professionals who want to drive business value from their IT investments.

The workshop will be presented by Tony Timbol (http://www.davidconsultinggroup.com/about/our-team/#Tony), Vice President of David Consulting Group and IT-CMF Tier 2 Certified Associate, and Catherine Crowley (http://ivi.nuim.ie/about-us/catherine-crowley), IT-CMF research fellow at the Innovation Value Institute (IVI), which developed the IT-CMF.

To date, the IT-CMF has engaged with more than 350 CIOs and senior IT executives in organizations across more than 20 countries – all with the same goal of realizing greater value from their IT investments. Leading members of the IVI include Intel, Chevron, BP, Ernst & Young, SAP and National University of Ireland, Maynooth.

“The IT department is often considered a financial burden on an organization – it’s a necessity to keep things functioning, but it offers no real value to the business in terms of ROI,” said Tony Timbol. “The IT-CMF outlines a path for IT management to have a direct impact on the bottom line of a company. With a few small changes, IT can transition from a cost center, to a value-added department, and we’re excited to share that knowledge with conference attendees.”

“Over the past seven years the IT-CMF has been applied by many organizations, of all sizes and maturity levels, to measure, inform and drive business value from IT. With IT so central to every aspect of business these days, a strong, empowered and accountable IT department, participating at the most senior level, is more important than ever. The critical feature of the framework is its versatility, and this workshop gives attendees an understanding of how they can use the IT-CMF to drive value for their own organizations,” said Catherine Crowley.

Held in Savannah, GA, July 8-12, the conference features four tracks for IT financial management practitioners relating to the planning, acquisition, management and evaluation of IT assets and expenditures.

Attendees include IT financial professionals, clients of IT organizations and IT service providers involved with various IT financial management disciplines, from senior management to entry-level positions.
