This webinar is the third of the 2013 TAP-a-PM events and the first available on-line. Two earlier face-to-face events were Lean Project Management in February and An Introduction to Big Data for Project Managers in May. Both were held in Milpitas, CA.

The August webinar will provide highlights of the MOOC that will run from October 13 to November 22. The title of the course is Project Management for All Careers. It will be accompanied by the open-licensed textbook with the same name. MOOCs are a disruptive and controversial education tool that allow thousands of people to participate simultaneously in an online learning experience.

Anil Inamdar wowed the audience at the May event with detailed accounts of Big Data projects and their importance to industry.  Mr. Inamdar is an expert in big data analytics, data warehousing, and business intelligence. The presentation included the history of big data and introductions to visualization and the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).

Ron Green managed the event. His team included TAP-a-PM members Jane Yee, Laura Klemme, Madhurika Dev, and Pat Furagganan.

Ms. Dev, an experienced project manager in healthcare, electronics and airlines, began the session with an overview of TAP-a-PM. This co-op provides highly skilled and experienced project and program managers and project coordinators as consultants, contractors, and employees at no fee to clients and employers.

Mr. Green noted "TAP-a-PM is pleased to organize events for clients, employers, recruiters, and potential TAP-a-PM members. The presenters are world-class experts on the topics and outstanding speakers. In 2012, events included project management for mobile applications, clinical trials, online conferences, construction, and non-profits. TAP-a-PM welcomes topic suggestions."
