City of Columbia Earns Silver EHS Certification

ROLLA, Mo. - June 22, 2013 - PRLog -- The City of Columbia, Columbia, Missouri has become the first municipality in Missouri to earn the Green Clean Institute's, Silver EHS Certification.  The Environmental Health Services is a combination of education and performance of actual Green cleaning practices.

David Thompson, President of the Green Clean Institute (GCI) conducted educational classes with frontline and management staff members of the City of Columbia Public Works department, where these staff members earned Technician and/or Executive status.

GCI, a Columbia Chamber of Commerce member, recognizes the City of Columbia Public Works as having completed Green Clean Institute™ courses regarding the healthy use of procedures, products and equipment.  This Silver EHS certification may be presented as evidence of education, commitment and conceptual ability to apply Green Clean Practices within their duties as a Green Clean Institute Certified™ Environmental Health Services (EHS) organization.

At a time when many facility operations are doing only the bare minimum, the City of Columbia Public Works is now one of the few municipalities to embrace a proactive stance.  They join the likes of the City of New York and the City of Albuquerque, who are on the same path to show their commitment to environmental stewardship for the staff and visitors using the cities public buildings.

No longer will this group of individuals be known as janitors or custodians.  They are now certified Environmental Health Services Technicians and Executive.  Together they understand the “whys of cleaning” which will help them install EHS Best Practice Standards within the built environments they maintain.

The Columbia Chamber of Commerce will be conducting a Ribbon Cutting at 11 am, June 26701 E. Broadway.  David Thompson will be making certification presentations to each student as well as the City of Columbia Public Works.  You are invited to show your support by attending this first ever event in Columbia, Missouri.
