This marks the second issue since their initial magazine launch in March of this year when over 350 people gathered in support of Velvet Dust’s first issue launch. While contributors for the magazine are primarily Austin locals; artists, photographers, and designers from as far as London, Paris, Rome and even Beirut have submitted in hopes to be featured in this new online publication. Founder and Editor-in-Chief Jessica Thompson is thrilled with the support from the Austin community and hopes to continue to find new ways to engage the creative class, both in the digital world, and in the Austin locale. “Since the release of our first issue, the support and interest has been steadily growing. We received incredible submissions from all over the world for this second issue, and I can't wait to showcase the work of some remarkable talents. We're excited for the future and happy to have Austin as our home base and core support system,” says Thompson. Each issue for Velvet Dust adheres to a general theme, and with the theme for Issue 2 being ‘Illusions’ “We are proud to be showcasing amazing Austin talent, not only in the magazine, but at our issue launch party events as well,” discloses Thompson. The ‘Illusions’ The party begins at 8pm on Thursday June 27th and there will be no cover charge. All are invited to attend and encouraged (but not required) to dress in costume reflecting the Circus Carnival theme. Artists, musicians and designers who are interested in submitting their work to be featured in a future issue of Velvet Dust Magazine are encouraged to send submissions along with a brief summary to submissions@ ### If you’d like more information about Velvet Dust Magazine, or to schedule an interview with Founder and Editor-in-Chief Jessica Thompson, please contact Sharon Reynolds at sharon@velvetdust.com.
