“Turbo” is a film about a snail that against all odds becomes fast and decides that he wants to compete in the Indianapolis 500 after crossing paths with a race-ready Chevy Camaro (http://www.biggerschevy.com/ Chevrolet’s decision to become involved with a children’s film that focuses on Indy Car racing couldn’t have come at a better time, as Chevy recently secured the top spot in the 97th Indianapolis 500. In addition to this big win by Chevy racer Tony Kanaan, Chevy also took the second, third, and fourth spots in the race thanks to the brilliant driving of Carlos Munoz, Ryan Hunter-Reay, and Marco Andretti. In all, Chevy drivers took seven of the top ten spots in the 2013 Indy 500. The move to become involved with the design of “Turbo” shows a marked departure for the automaker from the typical placement of brands into films, which are more of the live-action variety. Unlike other children’s animated films like “Cars,” “Turbo” will feature name brand Chevy vehicles throughout the film. This allows General Motors to bring the excitement and enthusiasm of Chevy vehicles to a whole new generation. In order to bring more attention to the film and their part in it, Chevy has built a replica of the original Camaro racer that is featured in the movie. As a part of this promotion, Chevy will showcase the film and the car through television, print and online advertising, as well as social media marketing and dealer promotions.
