- Bournville College looking at new ways to utilise technology to increase participation in training and skills development across the care sector
- CPD certified Marshall ACM has designed a range of flexible e-learning modules to engage people working in the care sector and support their CPD

In response to the Care Quality Commission report, Bournville College is looking at ways to utilise learning technology to support necessary improvements in UK care. The technology includes online communication and a new partnership with e-learning experts, Marshall ACM.

The recent report by the Care Quality Commission found that improvements needed to be made in the care sector in a number of areas, including assessing and meeting people’s needs, care planning, delivering care and managing challenging behaviour.  Bournville College offers a range of courses and qualifications from entry level to higher education, aimed at people working, or hoping to work, in the care sector. For those currently employed within a care home or similar environment, these courses support their Continual Professional Development (CPD).

With CPD accreditation, Marshall ACM’s e-learning enables Bournville College to offer flexible e-learning courses on diversity and safeguarding which are based on strong learning principles and instructional design. It means that participants completing these e-learning modules can confirm they have taken an accredited course which can be highlighted on their CV.

Talking about the new partnership with Marshall ACM, for Bournville College, Sales, Innovation and Projects Director, Rose Rees, said: “We work with some fantastic organisations whose primary concern is to provide exemplary quality of care to their clients. Our aim is to help these organisations maintain their high standards by ensuring they have ongoing, relevant training delivered to suit their busy work schedules and minimise disruption within the workplace.

“We want to encourage all care organisations to reflect on the level of current expertise of their staff and identify areas for development. The flexible online delivery models we are developing with Marshall ACM will help increase staff participation in training, reduce issues regarding cover and enable more effective “up-skilling” to meet legislative requirements more proactively.”

David Marshall, CEO of Marshall ACM added: “We look forward to working with Bournville College to develop e-learning that offers flexible training and supports the CPD needs of people working in the care sector.”
