June 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Have you noticed the fastest growing sport in the world is mixed martial arts? Largely due to the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Well many parents have asked us if mixed martial arts training is safe for their child and an effective way for them to learn self-defense, gain confidence and get in better shape. Well I’m here to tell you yes it is!

Mixed martial arts training for your child if done properly in a certified academy with qualified instructors will give your child all the benefits that parents are looking for like, confidence, self-defense, improve fitness, better attitude, better grades and list goes and on and on and on. Mixed martial arts is a real martial arts that teaches children how to defend themselves but also allows them to practice with real time and realistic scenarios. Children discover very quickly what works and what doesn’t work. Once you tie up with someone and start grappling which is a lot of different than stand up because if you don’t know how to grapple on the ground you are in a lot of trouble. This is a big hole in traditional martial arts, they just spend all their time on stand up which mixed martial arts does spend time on stand up but also spends time on how to wrestle and also what to do on someone knocks you on the ground. We’ve all been there before growing up as a kid whenever you saw a kid get in a fight, the kids knocking each other on the ground and kids don’t know what to do. Giving kids to the comport levels on how to defend themselves on the ground is a huge advantage that other martial arts don’t cover.

I recommend you go find a qualified school. Go online and look for certified mixed martial arts schools that are certified under the IBJJF, MTIA, MMAIA and there’s a bunch of different ones out there. Then you have to go with your child and have there to experience the classes. See what the kids are learning and what the other parents think about the classes. Then ask the instructor how much time is spent on stand up and grappling, also make sure they offer a life skills program where they teach the kids how to be champions in life. Then get your child enrolled in mixed martial arts classes and give them a head start in life.
