4th Annual Galveston Island Wild Texas Shrimp Festival

GALVESTON, Texas - June 20, 2013 - PRLog -- Galveston Island is a seafood lover’s paradise all year round, but this September Yaga’s Entertainment Inc. will bring foodies a little taste of Heaven at the Galveston Island Shrimp Festival to be held September 27-29. Featuring some of the best shrimp gumbo the Gulf Coast has to offer.

Event festivities begin on Friday, September 27 at 5:00pm when the FREE Boat & RV Show open along with various vendor exhibits and conclude with the VIP Sponsor Party and Texas Size Shrimp Dinner in Saengerfest Park honoring the sponsors and cook-off teams from 8:00pm-10:00pm. VIP Sponsor Party tickets are available to the public for $50.00 and include a Texas Size Shrimp Dinner and libations.

Saturday events begin with the Shrimp Scamper 5K Fun Run down Seawall Boulevard at 9:00am. All fitness levels and ages are invited to join in this non-competitive event. Costumes and teams are encouraged. Run entry fee includes event t-shirt, gumbo tasting cup, and festive Shrimp Scamper surprise!  

The Shrimp Gumbo Cook-Off, FREE Boat & RV Show, Vendor Exhibits and Live Music will be held in Historic Stand District on Saturday, September 28 beginning at 10:00am. Visitors to the festival will be able to purchase a Gumbo Sampling Cup in advance for $8 for a limited time only. This cup will allow guests to sample gumbo from over 60 cook-off teams comprised of amateur and professional cookers from 11:00am-3:00pm on Saturday, September 28. Professional teams including Gaido’s, Bubba Gump Shrimp Co., Fuddruckers, Joe’s Crab Shack, San Luis Resort, Yaga’s Café, Float Pool & Patio Bar and more will also be selling various dishes for public purchase. Other events on Saturday include the Lil’ Shrimps Parade at 1:00pm sponsored by Galveston Shrimp Company with festive floats, marching band and bead tossing and the Lil’ Shrimps Kids Area open from 11:00am-5:00pm.

Festivities continue on Sunday, September 29, 2013 with the FREE Boat & RV Show, Lil’ Shrimps Kids Area and Sunday Funday events in the Park.

Portion of event proceeds will benefit the University of Texas Medical Branch and the Ronald McDonald House.
