Well-done, The Wellness Manifesto

A simple concept, exquisite in its simplicity and effectiveness
AUSTIN, Texas - June 20, 2013 - PRLog -- “Well-done, The Wellness Manifesto” is a simple concept with the potential to change the healthcare landscape,” says Melinda Seifert, co-founder of LoneStart Wellness and author of “Well-done, The Wellness Manifesto,” and promoter of the Kickstarter project with the same name. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2093882041/well-done-the-wellness-manifesto  “This is a big statement, yet it is entirely feasible. It really is exquisite in its simplicity. It only asks that we all get involved and play our parts to make it happen.”

The fact is that our daily lifestyle choices account for as much as 60 percent of the overall demand on our finite healthcare resources.  Today 86 percent of all full-time employees are obese, overweight and/or have one or more chronic illnesses. This is why we have a healthcare cost crisis.  Want proof?  If toilet paper had experienced the same rate of inflation as healthcare since 1960, one roll would cost $28 today.

Seifert points out that the only solution that is practical, affordable and sustainable is for enough of us 300 million plus Americans to make modest, but meaningful improvements in our daily behaviors.  And in order for that to happen, people have to believe two things: "This is worth it.  I can do this."

And that’s what the Wellness Manifesto is all about.  It provides anyone who’s motivated to improve their health with a simple and powerful tool to do so. Seifert says, “nothing like it exists today and it needs to.”   Here’s the link:  http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2093882041/well-done-the-wellness-manifesto. “This project is all about defining a simple, positive, single action that will be embraced by enough of us to become a very powerful collective action.”

Click here to see the, “Well-done, The Wellness Manifesto”  project. When complete it will be an interactive e-book, with links to a new website that will provide an online Manifesto template allowing readers the opportunity  to post their personal Wellness Manifesto, with the option of making it private or public. The  beauty of a “Public” Manifesto is that it will be visible on the website for others to see, comment on, and relate to. Our intent is for the “site” to create a new social connection, where individuals can engage in new,  positive conversations about their personal well-being, and form “virtual” support groups. Seifert adds that, Together, and person by person, we can make a difference in our country’s  healthcare crisis. It’s the only way we’re going to finally bend that proverbial healthcare cost curve.”

If you’re at all familiar with Kickstarter, you know funding is “all or nothing.” Seifert points out that she needs to reach her fundraising goal to be funded, and hopes to greatly exceed it in order to bring this powerful tool to as many people as possible as soon as possible. Funding ends July 10, 2013.  She says, “we can make a difference with your help, and that difference has the potential to deliver almost incalculable benefits to individuals, families, organizations and communities. But, we need your support and energy.”

Kickstarter’s mission is “to bring creative projects to life.” Our mission is to “help individuals create a healthy life,” says Seifert. “I see this as an opportunity for each of us to play our part and make a very real and critical difference in our worsening healthcare crisis.” (http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2093882041/well-done-the-wellness-manifesto)
