ScottMadden Leads Webinar with APQC – HR Shared Services Benchmarking Study Highlights

ATLANTA - June 20, 2013 - PRLog -- ScottMadden, Inc., a general management consulting firm, recently joined forces with APQC to conduct a complimentary webinar focused on shared services. HR Shared Services Benchmarking: Results, Trends, and Key Metrics, held on June 12, 2013, provided highlights from ScottMadden’s second annual Human Resources Shared Services (HRSS) benchmarking study conducted with APQC.

Presented by Scott Manning and Karen Hilton, partners at ScottMadden, this webinar showcased how the industry performs on key metrics related to staffing levels, costs, operating models, and service center performance, and it provided insights about the participants’ practices and scope of services. ScottMadden also covered trends related to the HRSS scope and use of self-service and technology as well as the organization and alignment of centers of expertise.

“The performance levels exhibited by top performers in the study emphasize the importance of continuous improvement in shared services. These performance gaps can have a significant impact on shared services staffing and the overall cost of operations,” said Ms. Hilton.

This multi-year study is focused on U.S. or North American HRSS organizations with service centers and centers of expertise. The study is designed to provide reliable and comparative benchmarking data that these organizations can use to compare the performance of their current HRSS organization to that of their peer organizations and to identify areas of improvement.

Findings reveal that a tiered delivery model continues to be the most common for HRSS centers. Consistent with 2011 results, governance structures show that HRSS organizations predominantly report to the lead HR executive rather than to a multi-function shared services executive. Additionally, top-performing shared services organizations continue to achieve significant efficiency gains and cost performance.
