DOUGLAS, U.K. - June 20, 2013 - PRLog -- The 3rd Isle of Man Aviation Conference, held at the Villa Marina on 13 June 2013, was proclaimed an outstanding success by organisers ICM Aviation. The quality of the speaker and delegate lists were testimony to the fact this has become an important date in the business aviation calendar. According to delegate Brian Richards, of registeranaircraft.com, the conference is, "One of the very few ‘must attend’ events!" It was fortuitous therefore that Brian was the winner of a free delegate place at the 2014 event which will take place on Thursday 19 June.

Mark Byrne, director of ICM Aviation and founder of the Isle of Man Aviation Conference, told us why it is so important for the Island:

"It was very gratifying to welcome 150 delegates to the conference, in particular those who were visiting the Isle of Man for the first time and those from overseas returning for the second or even third year.

It is noteworthy that a number of aircraft management companies are now opening offices on the Island and creating good employment opportunities. Their presence here will cement the Island’s growing reputation as a centre of aviation expertise and a base from which high value business aircraft can be fully supported. Our conference is important as a showcase for this expertise but also to demonstrate how the Isle of Man Government gives proactive support to the sector, evidenced by the fact both the Minister for Economic Development, John Shimmin, and the Chief Financial Officer, Malcolm Couch, were on the speaker list."

The success of the conference mirrors that of the Isle of Man Aircraft Registry, which has registered over 600 aircraft since it was founded in 2007. Mark Byrne considers the Registry’s high profile in the business aviation world a key selling point for the conference, and an important factor in attracting delegates from the UK, Europe, Russia, USA and beyond:

"The Aircraft Registry has reached a new stage in its development, with other jurisdictions seeking to emulate its success. While the advantages of registering an aircraft here endure, as the Registry grows and changes it is vital that its enviable reputation for high quality customer service is maintained. There is no doubt it has generated a significant number of jobs on the Island. For example, at ICM, we now have a team of 13 dedicated aviation professionals. The Registry must continue to be supported by the Government so that it can continue to deliver consistent and high standards of service and play its part as an ambassador for the Isle of Man."

The Aircraft Registry’s highly qualified team has doubled over the last two years. With rapid growth comes the challenge of maintaining a highly professional yet personal service. Hartley Elder, Director of Civil Aviation and speaker at the conference, told us what lies ahead for the Registry and what his focus will be over the next twelve months:

"In the year ahead we will see the Aircraft Registry team continue to grow in size; the creation and testing of a bespoke online solution which will be of great assistance to us but will also simplify and assist clients making their requests; and the expansion of our areas of oversight to conform to the revised international standards for business jets. At the heart of what we plan to achieve in the coming year is our core belief in maintaining high service standards to satisfy our clients’ reasonable expectations."

Registration for the 2014 Isle of Man Aviation Conference will open on 01 October 2013. Further information about the event is available on the conference website: www.icmaviationconference.org .
