Follow on Google News | American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) Unveils Certification Program for IAQ InvestThe American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) has unveiled an entry-level certification program for individuals conducting indoor environmental assessments.
The Council-certified Residential Indoor Environmentalist (CRIE) is a “first step” credential for those who plan to become accredited professional indoor air quality investigators. The CRIE is available to all knowledgeable candidates regardless of their field experience. Based on publicly available science-based references, the CRIE knowledge base covers a wide range of topics relevant to residential indoor environmental investigation – including the most common IAQ contaminants, information about their sources and health effects, and techniques for reducing exposure. “All of our accredited certifications require at least two years of verified field experience,” Candidates for the CRIE must pass a closed-book examination developed by the CRIE certification board. The CRIE examination is conducted at any one of more than 600 approved proctoring locations around the world. Though a specific training course is not required, ACAC recommends that candidates seek formal training to prepare for the examination. Independently accredited training courses are listed on the website of ACAC’s sister organization, the Foundation for Accredited Learning (www.accreditedlearning.org). The American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) is an independent, non-profit certifying body founded in 1993 to serve the indoor air quality industry. ACAC offers third-party accredited personnel certifications in fields related to indoor environmental consulting, remediation and management. ACAC certifies more than 2,800 professionals across North America and overseas. For more information, visit the ACAC website at http://www.acac.org. End
