Traces of Computing machine Viruses since 1989-1999

In 1989, for instance, Ghostball was let go. This was the primary computer virus ready to reach different targets. Before Ghostball, computer virus were classified by their attack, like file infector or boot sector virus. Ghostball was the first “multipartite” virus, because it could follow several attack patterns.

In 1990, a software engineer named Mark Washburn manifested a Polymorphous virus called 1260. This computer virus could actually alter the construction of its own code meaning, each time it infected a new system, it looked different while doing the same thing. In effect, this kinda virus hides from anti-virus software by wearing disguises.

Michelangelo was the first computer virus to achieve stardom. It was noticed in 1991, and was probable to cause unbelievable variety of harm when it reached its trigger date, March 6th, 1992 (March 6th is Michelangelos natal day). If an infected system of rules is rebooted on March 6th, the computer virus will wipe out the disk drive. Despite doomsday alerts made by the press and the antivirus industry of at least five million infected systems of rules at risk, only about 10,000-20,000 computers worldwide were hit by the virus.

The Concept virus was unleashed in 1995. Concept is short for evidence of Concept, and it was speculated to show how computers virus are usually written in the macro language programmed into Microsoft Word. By 2004, just about 75 % of all viruses are macro viruses.

The CIH virus, later renamed Chernobyl, appeared in 1998. This was a very damaging virus that was not only programmed to erase disk drive but also tried to erase BIOS chips. For the first time in history, a computer virus had managed to actually damage the hardware it was running on. What's promising, CIH wasnt very good at it, and only cracked hardly any systems.
