June 19, 2013 - PRLog -- For a ship that is ahead of its time, eco friendly and energy conscious, even the sun shades are an important detail: technology becomes fundamental when it concerns sun protection in the cockpit, an area that is the center of control of the ship during the long maritime passages.
The Royal Princess, the new flagship of the Carnival Group Princess Cruises fleet – consigned on the 30th May this year by the Fincantieri dockyard in Monfalcone – delegated the supply and installation of 60 Easy Lock chain operated roller blinds (model F101) to Resstende, mounted in the ships forecabins. The shades of widths between 60 and 130 cm, all with a drop of 190 cm have been custom designed to perfectly fit the trapezoidal shape of the bridge.

To guarantee an optimum protection from the solar rays during navigation, Resstende chose to install a solar film called Mirage. To black out the control side of the bridge, a crank operated ZIP system, model Z707 (with C105 headbox) is installed using a grey DARKTEX fire resistant fabric.

“To have contributed with our installations to such an ambitious and futuristic project has been a great satisfaction to us - declared Fabio Gasparini, director of Resstende – This ship represents a new technological point of reference on a European and World scale with respect to the extremely high performance and elevated quality of the avant garde technical solutions employed. Our company has had the honour to have contributed to the project supplying the sun shades for the bridge, an accomplishment that signified an indispensible attention to every minimal detail and a substantial technical design in order to fully satisfy the specific requirements”.

The Royal Princess is the biggest ship ever built by Fincantieri: it is 330 m long and 38 m wide, with a gross tonnage of 141 thousand tons and holds over 5600 people, crew included. Furthermore it has been designed and built to adapt to any type of navigation paying special attention to energy saving aspects and the reduction of air/water emissions.
