Hutchinson Festivals, Inc. Announces Plans For The 24th Annual HutchFest

Events to be held July 3rd through July 7th at the Kansas State Fairgrounds - Logan Mize performs at 7pm on Saturday at the Bretz Law Arena. The FREE July 4th fireworks extravaganza begins at 6pm at the Kansas State Fair Grandstands with Passed Down.
 
HUTCHINSON, Kan. - June 19, 2013 - PRLog -- HUTCHINSON, KANSAS - HutchFest will hold its 24th annual festival from July 3rd through July 7th, 2013.

A full weekend of family friendly fun and concerts are scheduled for the 24th annual HutchFest in Hutchinson Kansas for the Independence Day weekend.

New HutchFest chairman Ron Williams was quoted saying "Donations and new board members are giving this year's four-day festival a fresh feel."  "We started from scratch and have completely rebooted the event," he said.

"We've had an influx of new ideas and this will not be the same old HutchFest.” The 4th of July fireworks extravaganza and stage show will return to the Kansas State Fair grandstands.  

Kansas’ own country music star Logan Mize will headline a concert on Saturday, July 6th at the Bretz Law Arena starting at 7pm.  Pre-sale tickets for the concert are $4 available online at http://hutchfest.eventbrite.com.  A pre-show meet and greet package with reserved seating will also be available. Thursday July 4th is the annual Patriot’s Day Parade along Main Street.  The grandstands at the Kansas State Fairgrounds will open at 6pm for a stage show and concert featuring the band Passed Down.  Enjoy an excellent view of the City fireworks extravaganza presented by Bretz and Young Law Offices, Eagle Communications and Showalter Fireworks.

Much of the 2013 HutchFest is free to the public thanks to generous donations from community businesses.  Portfolio Recovery Associates, Elm Grove Estates, Sonoco and Cox Communications along with other sponsors including Integrated Solutions Group/Ag Trax and NMGI have helped us provide a full evening of fun.  The kids can cool off with water slide inflatables and free ice cream from Mel Hambelton Ford.  The fireworks presented by Rainbow Fireworks starts around 9:45pm.  If it rains the entire show will be moved to Friday.

The festival continues Friday evening at the Lake Talbott stage of the fairgrounds on Friday evening.  Rockin’ country band Catfish Cowboys will play a free concert.  Show starts at 7pm.  Enjoy some yummy BBQ, roasted corn and other fun activities while you enjoy a foot stomping evening of great music.  The Wooden Nickel at 329 N. Van Buren will have live, loud & local bands including Friday's Waiting, Without Sacrifice, Victims of Spotlight and Reign in Peril.

On Saturday, July 6th a full day of family friendly events are planned at the Kansas State Fairgrounds.   We start off with an outdoor Zumba fitness at 8am on the Bretz Law Arena stage.  The Kansas Girl Scout Troop #50033 will host a kid carnival.  Lowes Home Improvement and Hobby Lobby sponsor our kid crafts tent.  Bathing suits are encouraged in the Super Soaker Arena which will have water balloon battles at 12 noon, 1pm and 2pm.  There will be a cup stacking and texting contest at the Lake Talbott stage. We will have food eating contests and a sand pit dig for the kids with prizes galore. Other local entertainment artists will be performing throughout the day.  Enjoy some great food as we will have popcorn, Pronto Pups, Po’s BBQ, funnel cakes and shaved ice.

In addition to the events at the fairgrounds, Carey park will host a few events on Saturday and Sunday.  The Hutchinson Recreation Commission and the Hutchinson Kiwanis Club hosts the Firecracker 5K on Saturday morning.  Meet at the Salt City Splash parking lot at 8am.  Register at Hutch Rec or online at http://www.hutchrec.com. The 2013 HutchFest concludes on Sunday evening at 7pm at the Salt City Splash Family Swim Night, sponsored by Pools Plus and Brad and Tammy Dillon.  Free hot dogs, chips and drinks will be given to the first 200 guests.  Come cool off after a fantastic weekend of fun.

Printed schedules will be handed out downtown on Third Thursday and at the parade.  They will be available for pickup at the Hutchinson Chamber of Commerce office at 117 N. Walnut, Eagle Media Center at 825 N. Main at the Kansas State Fair administrative office at 2000 N. Poplar in Hutchinson, Kansas.
