June 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Today, the Franklin County Fair (http://www.fcfair.org/) announced this year’s fair theme will be “Farm, Family, Food and Fun.” The fair will take place July 13-20 at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Hilliard, Ohio.

“This year’s Franklin County Fair is better than ever, with exciting new exhibits and entertainment for the whole family to enjoy,” said Emily Gabriel, president, Franklin County Agricultural Society. “We hope everyone will come out to support and learn about agriculture in Franklin County, which is alive and well. We truly offer something for everyone and hope that loyal fair goers, as well as first-timers, come see us.”

The entertainment on tap includes a free concert by Billboard chart-topping pop/rock band New Hollow, who hails from New Albany. In 2011, the group became the first-ever unsigned band to top the Billboard Hot Singles Sales Chart with its hit “SiCK.” The band has appeared nationwide, opening for American Idol’s David Archuleta and performing the National Anthem at the Dallas Cowboys Thanksgiving Day game, as well as at the Ohio Statehouse for Gov. John Kasich. Their blend of arresting vocal harmonies and modern rock rhythms has landed them a spot in a recent Billboard magazine article as one of the “Bands To Watch For in 2013.” Their latest single, “She Ain’t You,” was released this spring.

Another highlight will be the Lima Company Memorial, “The Eyes of Freedom,” which will be on display all week. The nationally travelling military tribute honors those who’ve served in every branch of our Armed Forces. These life-size portraits of 23 fallen soldiers of Lima Company were painted by Worthington artist Anita Miller. “Don’t miss this rare opportunity to see this moving tribute to our military heroes,” said Gabriel.

Other highlights include:

• A National Tractor Pullers Association sanctioned Truck and Tractor Pull, Motocross, Harness Racing, and Demolition Derby
• A “Family Day” on Sun., July 14 featuring discounted day-long ride wristbands, “Minute to Win It”-style games, and many other family fun activities
• A “Senior Day” on Tues., July 16, featuring a pancake breakfast, health screenings, games,  gift bags and much more for seniors
• An “Armed Forces Day” on Thurs., July 18, with activities to recognize and support those currently serving and veterans. Some great military displays, presentations and a patriotic sing-a-long.
• The Farm Olympics, where kids participate in all kinds of traditional farm chores, with a twist; always creates great photo opportunities.
