Minneapolis-Based taj salon hosts taj modé 2013; Raises $5,000 for Nonprofit Pay It Forward Fund

BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. - June 18, 2013 - PRLog -- taj salon & spa’s annual fashion show-fundraiser taj modé 2013 raised $5,000 for the Pay It Forward Fund, a nonprofit organization that helps patients pay their bills while undergoing chemotherapy for breast and women’s cancers.

“Every year our goal with taj modé is to raise money for a great local charity and to have fun,” says Jeanne Strandin, one of the taj salon & spa owners. “This year’s event was incredible. Our sponsors and guests were generous. And we raised money for Pay It Forward Fund to help longtime stylist Melissa Coleman’s mother, who is facing breast cancer again after being in remission. ”

Held on Saturday, June 8, on the patio at the salon’s Brooklyn Park location (9744 Schreiber Terrace, Brooklyn Park, Minnesota), taj modé 2013 was brought to life with the help of emcee Premier Image Consultant and Wardrobe Stylist Alice Sydow, owner of I’ve Got Your Style and a fashion insider known both locally and nationally. Twenty –five models walked the runway wearing taj boutique inspired outfits with hair and makeup professionally done by taj salon & spa stylists and makeup artists.

Beauty experts from Aveda and Pureology judged each model on her look from a creative and technical perspective as well as how her overall look matched the mood of the music choreographed as she walked the runway. Pureology’s Carolyn Unze and Aveda’s Anne Wheeler, Ryan Torkelson and Wendy Rose selected one winner for best runway hair and one winner for best runway makeup.  Best runway hair was worn by model Natalie Anderson; winners were taj stylists Shawna Roepke and Reka Houser. Best runway makeup was worn by model Heidi Matke; the winner was taj makeup artist Jaynee Skeie.

About Pay It Forward Fund - Pay It Forward Fund is a non-profit organization that helps patients pay their bills while undergoing treatment for breast and women’s cancers. Even patients with health insurance often struggle financially during cancer treatment.  Many patients face high deductibles and co-payments. Some become too sick to work and it's not uncommon for women to lose their job. So this organization pays essential living expenses so patients can focus on what’s really important - getting well.
