Bloomsburg Nationals to Host Live Music on Saturday with Flamin' Dick and the Hot Rods

June 18, 2013 - PRLog -- With the return of the Bloomsburg Nationals powered by Carlisle Events in 2013, comes the return of the region's most popular band, Flamin' Dick and the Hot Rods. The event takes place August 9-11, with the band playing the Quaker Steak and Lube stage on Saturday. The set time is TBD at this time. In addition to the live music, Bloomsburg weekend will once again host family fun, great cars, a swap meet, car corral and the always popular Downtown Parade and Gridlock. To date, the second weekend in August is shaping up to be very special for local and regional enthusiasts at the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds.

The Flamin' Dick group is Reading, Pennsylvania-based specializing in 50's and 60's Rock-n-Roll. They consider themselves a party band and are well versed in a wide array of music from 1955 to 1968, the "The Golden Years of Rock-n-Roll." In 2012, they had the band shell area packed for an afternoon set and while an entire seat was provided, concert goers needed just the edge. Toe taping excitement was such that many were standing, clapping and dancing along during the nearly three-hour set.

As touring goes, Flamin' Dick and the Hot Rods are good at it because they do it so frequently. The band plays hundreds of gigs annually. In the month leading up to the Bloomsburg Nationals, the group will play fairs, festivals, car events and private parties in various areas of central Pennsylvania. For a group whose name was derived from an offhand comment in 1985, the years of playing music, entertaining crowds and traveling down the roads of life have been quite rewarding. Flamin' Dick and the Hot Rods have built a following of loyal fans and those fans, plus the energy of the band, will be on full display event weekend.

The Flamin' Dick show is free with paid admission to the Bloomsburg Nationals, an event similar to those produced at America's Automotive Hometown, Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The weekend features cars, trucks and bikes of all makes, models, style and era. Daily tickets are $10 for an adult with children 12 and under admitted free. A three-day pass for just $20 saves a full day’s admission. In addition to the Flamin' Dick concert, there are special displays, a Fun Field with awards, a $1,000 prize issued to one lucky Fun Field registrant, great fair-style food, crafts and family excitement.
