Follow on Google News | Day of celebration at new care home in HailshamMagicians, a harpist and a jazz musician took part in a day of celebration at the opening of Bowes House care home in Hailsham.
By: Care UK The Mayor of Hailsham officially opened the home, which incorporates parts of an old brewery and later became a rubber factory. Fifty five new jobs have been created through the opening of the Care UK home and that number is expected to more than double as residents settle in. There are 90 beds for older people seeking the highest standards of personalised nursing, residential, and respite care and an experienced team will also provide specialist support for those living with Alzheimer’s or other forms of dementia. Alison Barnes, home manager at Bowes House, is delighted both with the calibre of people recruited and with the quality of accommodation, which is split into four suites each with its own lounge, dining room, TV rooms, quiet areas as well as spacious and light rooms for residents. She said: “Our people are highly skilled and 90 percent are from Hailsham itself. It’s been very exciting to see them in their uniforms and taking part in training before we opened.” There is a Hailsham theme throughout Bowes House. Children from nearby schools have named the suites Weald, Meadow, Barley and Aylsham and there are pictures from the town’s past adorning the walls. Hailsham’s celebrities are remembered too. An activities kitchen, decorated retro-style, pays tribute to Fanny Craddock while one of the lounges is furnished in rich colours inspired by Cardinal Wolsey. End
