London plays host to International Association of Bookkeepers (IAB) 40 year celebrations

The International Association of Bookkeepers (IAB) is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year and to mark its significant contribution to the financial sector, it is holding a series of celebration events in London throughout June 2013.

June 18, 2013 - PRLog -- Highlights of this celebration will include a conference featuring experts from HMRC and The Pensions Regulator, who will discuss industry topical issues, including automatic enrolment.

A host of international guests will be welcomed to the House of Commons on Thursday 20 June at a reception hosted by IAB president, MP Fabian Hamilton; which will recognise and celebrate the achievements of the top IAB UK and overseas centres.

Finally, a gala awards dinner announcing award winners from finance and small business, will be held at a ceremony in the Great Hall at One Great George Street.  The event will highlight the unique achievements of relevant individuals and celebrate the work of accredited centres across the world.

The IAB was founded in 1973 and is a leading UK and international professional body for those providing bookkeeping and related accounting services to small businesses.

Chief Executive Malcolm Trotter says: “The IAB has led the bookkeeping profession for 40 years and has become widely recognised as the body which sets the standard for accredited and regulated qualifications in the field, meeting the needs of micro, small and larger businesses.  It is vital that in order for the sector to maintain a high level of professionalism, those individuals who have excelled should be recognised and rewarded, along with the institutions that support us.”

Since the IAB was set up 40 years ago it has grown significantly around the world providing qualifications to students and services to professional bookkeepers in places as far afield as Zimbabwe, Russia and Sri Lanka.
