NEW YORK - June 17, 2013 - PRLog -- New York City contemporary dance company Janusphere Dace again joins IATI Theater’s Performing Arts Marathon (PAM) this summer.  PAM 2013, IATI’s sixth annual summer festival presents an eclectic group of comedic, dramatic, dance, theater and interdisciplinary performances representing global cultures and imagination.

Thursday, July 25, 2013, at 7:00 p.m and Sunday, July 28, 2013, at 3:00 p.m., Janusphere Dance Company will perform Janusphere-Evolution.   The multimedia dance program includes premiere performances of KinderPlatz and A Dancer's Life.  In KinderPlatz, the choreography redefines space and the architecture and functionality of movement “by juxtaposing the free spirit and naivety of youth against the precise, controlled movement of technically trained adults,” says Darion Smith Janusphere Artistic Director and choreographer of the piece.  Smith’s choreography combines with an original video piece by visual artist Aleksandar Cosic, projected on the stage.

A Dancer's Life explores the inner nature of a dancer's existence, from the mundane daily tasks to the extraordinary shared experience of dance ensembles, revealing dancers’ experiences in compelling and dramatic ways.

Janusphere Dance Company has given over fifty public performances since its founding in 2007, including performances at the Riverside Theatre, Alvin Ailey Citigroup Theater, Manhattan Movement and Arts Center, La MaMa's Ellen Stewart Theatre, Brooklyn Music School and Playhouse, Center for Performance Research and City Center Studios. The Company has performed on tour in California and Rhode Island.

Darion Smith, Artistic Director and Resident Choreographer, co-founded Janusphere Dance Company and has created over ten original pieces for Janusphere including the company's first evening-length work.  Mr. Smith has collaborated with award winning musicians including Reinhold Heil, Dick Hyman, David LaMarche, Yuval Waldman, Felix Ventouras and Jonathan Melville Pratt.  For more information about Janusphere Dance Company visit januspheredance[dot]com.

Aleksandar Cosic, born and raised in Serbia, is a visual artist based in New York City.  After completing his education at the College of Art and Architecture in Italy, Cosic moved to the United States and began training in design at one of the leading architectural design firms in New York.  He works in photography, film, CGI and video.
